Interested in adopting a schnauzer?
Are you looking to grow your family?
Is a schnauzer right for you? They are pretty active dogs, and require a moderate amount of grooming. Schnauzers come in 3 different sizes: mini, standard, and giant. Although the same breed, they have distinct personality differences. Mini's can be stubborn, but tend to be highly intelligent. Actually, intelligence runs in the breed in general. Mini's tend to have the most health problems of all the sizes. Bladder stones are the number one issue, followed by poor dental health, pre-disposition to pancreatitis, diabetes mellitus, and possibly Cushing's Disease. Bladder stones and pancreatitis can be avoided with proper diet. If you are not familiar with the breed, no problem! We love educating new owners on everything schnauzer! Never had a dog before, but willing to learn? No problem! We also have discounted rates with local training facilities! Still interested? To get the ball rolling, please contact us at schnauzerrescueofmn@gmail.com for more information and an adoption application! Once you complete an application, send it back, and we will review it. Then we call your references and previous/current veterinarian. If things look good, we will then schedule a home check and meet and greet with the dog you're interested in. Prior to finalizing an adoption, we do allow a 2-4 week foster to adopt period. This allows the potential adoptive family to see if this dog is a good fit for them. We have fantastic fosters that help us determine what kind of environment would be best for a specific dog, and we work very hard to fit families with the right dog! |
