Rainbow Bridge ~ In Memory of the schnauzers we lost too soon

On the morning of Friday, August 19th, 2016 dear Sam told us he was too tired to go on. The cancer had finally caught up with his body, and he was ready to move on to the next stage. Sam was a handsome boy who was given a second chance at life when he came to SROMN at the age of 12 in October 2014 after his owner passed away. It was shortly afterward, on screening radiographs, we found a solitary lung tumor. Towards the bottom of his page you can read the beginning of Sam's story, and how his life progressed throughout the last 2 years. But, for now, please reflect on the great dog he was, and the two lives he forever changed - his fosters turned parents. Sam was kept labelled as SROMN dog while he lived out his life in hospice care under the supervision, care, and love of Kathy and Tom. The purpose of keeping just one thread attached to SROMN was for close monitoring of his health status, but by all means, he belonged to Kathy and Tom. Click on his photo to read their story of their beloved Sam, the dog that forever changed their hearts and will forever remain a part of them.

This is Rocky. Rocky was about 9 years old when he came to SROMN in November 2015. He came from a very neglected situation. He was thin. He had fleas. His teeth were basically rotting out of his mouth. He was painful and infected. While preparing him for neutering, I found he had a very large abdominal tumor. Radiographs verified this. So did an ultrasound, which also showed abnormalities in his liver. Based on this, the decision was made to humanely euthanize Rocky. At least you were able to spend one night in happiness my little friend! Rest in peace Rocky, as now we know you are running free, healthy and happy at Rainbow Bridge!

Ice was surrendered with Archie, Bill, Jade, Emma, and Pollee. Ziva, Callee, and Neifie (now Buddy) had been surrendered 6 months previously from the same home.
Shortly after Ice came to use, at the age of 11-1/2 years old, she found her foster, who would shortly become the most loving home she’d ever known. Julie and Barry welcomed the senior schnauzer into their home, along with their 14 year old mini Sunny. It didn’t take long for Ice’s loving personality to win them over! Ice had a way of bringing her big wet noise up to you, making you rub her head, and in turn you instantly fell in love with her. Ice’s lameness improved as she moved more. She played with toys. She laid on soft beds. She chewed on bones. For what was likely the first time in a long time, or her life, Ice had a really great life! She was loved more than words could describe by her parents, she didn’t lack for anything, and she was truly happy. Ice enjoyed the summer of 2016 as a free dog in a loving home, taking in the sunshine. Ice had her first family Thanksgiving. Ice had her first family Christmas. Ice was loved. She was so loved.
